Focus JANE!!! Pay Attention!

Janeface702
Hahahaa!
Been having a rather brilliant time lately with getting serious about my life. I have been undergoing some rather huge life changing adjustments.

Everything takes time.

But, I will say this- I love stationary, office supplies, binders (My New ones from Target!) and now I am set up to take credit cards for this business of mine! THATS RIGHT! I am becoming more serious.

I went to the library this weekend to look for some books on the craft world and business and anything which can give me some good hints about the unknown.
Craftyjanewynn
I found this book: "Craft Inc. Turn Your Creative Hobby Into a Business" and have just started to read it and so far I am really enjoying it. It is FILLED with some great hints and tips. It also has LOTS of LISTS which I love. Although a lot of this information, could at times be thought of as common sense, I rather enjoy the way the authors approached to this information. It is ALWAYS important to re-read the basics as it helps you to truly define your intentions. Well at least for me- it helps! I tend to get easily distracted. OH! And I might add- THIS book is rather pretty. I like the font choice and the colors of the sections~ Is that Kooky? Haaa- I think a handsome book makes for better reading!

So this is just a part of my summer reading.

OH! And this of course:
Tonia Davenport's New Book "Plexi Class" came! I spent my entire trip to Valley Ridge- stealing time to read through it. I Kept coming back to look through it and found myself FILLED with ideas.
Honestly ONE of the best new books out there! I am so ready to jump into my studio and get working with Plexi! Well...As soon as I can finish painting the spare bedroom this week!

I will be vending at my Local Art Festival (ArtScape) on Sunday July 20th! (Booth #C45) My fingers are crossed for GOOD WEATHER! Haaa- thus the battles of Outdoor vending. Either way it is still fun for me.

My Dear friend Lisa will be with me selling her things as well- and Now with the ability to accept credit cards... well I hope it will be great! (GULP! NEED TO MAKE MORE THINGS TO SELL!!! Uuugh!)

THEN after this- I will be getting ready to hop a plane to Arizona and Teach at ART UNRAVELED! And Again- not only will I be teaching, I will also be vending on Saturday.

Sadly- after this- My year of teaching is finished. I really could use something to fill in for the Fall. I will peek around and see what is out there. I could use some vending at least and I know there must be some good HOLIDAY shows out there...

* By the way- THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUGGESTIONS on places to teach and such! I have followed up on some of these already! HUZZAH!

Okay- I better get moving and get back to work at this desk job.

Day Dreaming of working in my studio...

HOME again HOME again...

Artunraveled07003
Ahhh- Well that seemed like a long time away! It is good to be home.

WHAT A brilliant time I had. It has been since April 2006 since I last taught and although I felt a little rusty- It was a great experience. I loved everything about it. Seriously- I really did. (Although I am not much of a complainer. I can get along nicely most anywhere...) I thought this whole event was Well organized and was very convenient!
Demengwynn
I met some lovely and Uber-talented students and fellow teachers- as well as getting to reunite with some old friends. (Heee!)

I love love loved- seeing people I only know: On-Line- in the flesh! Heee! THAT is such a strangely exciting experience.

I brought my book to share and had overwhelmingly positive feedback.

I only wish I had taken more photos- but I was SO darn busy each day- I could barely find time. Except on SUNDAY when I was not teaching and I took photos of the Students work in THOMAS'SSS Class!!!

And- our flights went off without any issues!

Now I am home- without a VOICE. It left sometime Sunday night and I sound very deep and totally un-girl-like! (I have been drinking tea... lots of tea)

When I got home- I instantly went to the studio to see Virgil- who THREW himself at the both of us and then on the floor- and rolled around and Meowed like crazy- Nothing like that kind of home-coming! Poppy had been sitting in the bay window as if she had been waiting there as Lookout. We came in and were run over by Vespa who was a BUNDLE of energy. Poppy next who ran around at our feet- and then of course- Grumpy Perth who was still up on the bed. She MEOWED LOUDLY in protest! Heee! She has not left my side since... I love her so.

I was hot here too- I watered my plants when I settled in. They were thirsty. I have ripe tomatoes now! I then straighten up a bit and went and took a long nap. Later - I got up and went out to the studio to spend sometime with Virgil.

I feel a bit out of sorts- Like- "Okay, what now...?" I have been working and preparing for this trip with such vigor- that I now am faced with an open schedule for a few weeks- and it makes me feel strange. A little panicked... I had a hard time with living an unstructured life. HA! Go figure.

So- it is good to be home.

TOMORROW- I am staying home in hopes of finding my voice. I also need to unpack my whole studio and do laundry. I could use some food in this house too since we are out of the everyday things. It will be good to get all of that out of the way- unlike years past where- I have waited days to get those things accomplished.

Ahhh... I am laughing at the fact that I am looking forward to cleaning and household chores.

More to come!

Announcement!

After MUCH encouragement-
I have decided to TAKE PER-ORDERS for Signed Copies of my BOOK!

Book Description
"Featuring techniques for assemblage and surface alterations never before seen in a mixed-media art book (kit-bashing, wiring, egg-shell texture, casting and more), Altered Curiosities offers a new twist on a hot topic.

A fresh variety of projects (such as hair barrettes, jewelry, a drawer pull and a bird feeder) prove that artistic assemblage and collage styles can be expressed beyond wall art.

Readers will learn a new storytelling approach to their mixed-media art. Altered Curiosities goes beyond construction techniques to help readers discover how to create a personal narrative with objects and visually tell a story, not just infuse a piece with meaning or symbolism.
Two very important things make this book stand out from the crowd of other collage, mixed-media and assemblage titles: the projects (full of oddities and the unexpected) and the techniques--several of which have never been published before. A common element of Jane Wynn's style is to find an object, break it and put it together again (sometimes more than once), and she loves using anthropomorphic associations to tell stories in her projects. Step by step, readers will learn her unique method and her sought-after techniques. Along with surface alterations (faux-aging, patinas and the use of unusual household products) Altered Curiosities teaches metal etching with rubber stamps, simple wiring to create dramatic lighting, instruction for altering simple toy figures (making two-headed animals, for instance) and more."
