Finally I feel as if I am thawing out... I need a serious dose of Spring and soon. NOT that we really have had a lot of winter around here, but the little bit of stuff we have had since January has left me feeling chilled inside and out. Today the sun is shinning and I hear lots of birds out there making noise.
AND- I am wearing the colors of "Oxalis regnellii atropurpurea!

Thank you Mother Nature for helping me pick out my clothes today! Haa!

Anyway, I have been meaning to catch you up on my trip to the ACC on Sunday. Yes, Sunday- during the snow storm. I actually think that it was the better day to go since it kept the HUGE crowds down and I was able to see the booths and chat with some folks! We were excited to see the Whipple's there! We talked to John and Lynn for about an hour or more! They are AMAZING artists- both totally different and both completely charming. They travel around doing shows like the ACC. Thomas and I met them about 2-3 years ago while teaching. YOU Must go see their work: JOHN is here and  LYNN is here. We then walked around and got to see Melissa Noonan!

Yes- CAN you see why I LOVE HER! (Brilliant! Heeee!) She is a metal smith, Jewelry designer, artist extraordinaire! And she lives about 15 minutes away! She was working at a booth and it was nice stopping to talk. (Heee! No- She did not wear her Jackie O costume on Sunday... )

Then something REALLY fantastic happened to me... As I was walking up and down the isles, and looking at a million different things, I stopped at a big booth to browse at some Very cool items... as I was standing there, a very charming girl said to me- "Your Jane Wynn!" - and I looked up and then she said, "You must be getting that ALL day- Your Famous! Oh and I read your blog all the time!"- Still NOTHING would could out of my mouth! I was TOTALLY SPEECHLESS! I kept looking at Thomas who had to answer... I was a TOTAL DORK! Haaa! I mean- It was SO great! SO VERY COOL! Like I always thought about in my head in my Day Dreams... Famous? ME? HAA! HARDLY! But for a few seconds I sure did feel like it!!! She introduced herself as Annie from IMOGENE! (WHAT a Great company! One day- I would love to start selling my things for shops like hers!!! So toothy and different! Weeee!) and we began to chat. Well, all I can say is that she gave me a total thrill! Heee! It really made my day... and lifted my spirits about my direction in the world of making art. OH! By the way- She has a BLOG too- and posts lovely photos and sassy writing! Go Peek and Read!

When I was walking around and looking at the hundreds of booths- I did spy a few REALLY interesting artists! Here is my SHORT List:
B. J. Christofferson:http://www.bjchristofferson.com/
Adam Smith: http://www.adamsmith-art.com/
Nancy Kubale-Wicker:http://82.165.243.105/charlotte2005/artist.php?id=109&gid=8
Kristin Lora: http://www.kristinlora.com/
Eric Silva: http://www.ericsilva.com/
Talya Baharal and Gene Gnida: http://www.baharal-gnida.com/

There! That should keep you for a while... (I have to say- I really loved Kristin Lora's work a lot! I find her work to be RIGHT up my alley! It was refreshing to see someone who makes the things I dream about! Haaa! It sort of makes my toes tingle- in that- I want to be more polished, sophisticated and clean art sort of feel! Haaa!

So tonight when I get home I need to ship out all of the orders I have and then I am going to finally take my last artist photo for the book- while my face is somewhat behaving! Then I am going to work on a few more drawings and then I will finally start working on some "Other" type of art... Not sure what that completely is yet- BUT I know it will involve oil paint and a portrait! Oh and I know it will involve her as my subject! She is missing an arm- poor girl! AND so I am going to sculpt her a new tentacle for her before I paint her pretty picture! Heee!

Haaa! I am sure you will stay tuned to see me play with paint...!

Okay- Off to sip my soup! I will chat more in a bit!

the whipples are fantastic people and artists. i was lucky enough to spend some time with them in ann arbor a couple years ago. and i think eric silva's work is wonderfully unique, little treasures that just breathe character. they're very much in the realm of wearable shrines. glad you had such a great time.
